Chakras

The word Chakra comes from Sanskrit meaning "wheel." Originating in India, references can be found dating back before 2500BCE. The concept of the Chakras and what they represent have been incorporated into Hinduism, Buddhism, China, and western cultures.


But what are they? Chakras are points in the body that energy flows through. Different points have different energy and each have their own specific correspondences. When energy is flowing freely it has a positive affect on the body and the person as a whole. The opposite also being true, when energy is not flowing freely, the body may suffer from negative affects.


There are seven main energy centers in the body, starting at the base of your spine moving upwards, we have the Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye, and Crown Chakras.

The Crown Chakra is located at the crown of the head or slightly above. It's primary symbolization is willpower, intellect, the mind, and personal power.

The Sacral Chakra is located at the abdomen. It's primary symbolization relates to creativity, emotion, and sex.
