Imbolc, or Candlemas, is generally celebrated February 1st - February 2nd when we are halfway between winter solstice and spring equinox, and the days are becoming longer. The promise of Spring is in the air, new growth and new life are just waiting to spring forth.
Imbolc is a time of cleansing the old from our lives, a time of purification. As Spring brings new growth to the earth, it is time to discard what is no longer serving us to make space for our own new growth. Time to move forward with hope and optimism for a new year. Be gentle with yourself, approach your new growth as you would new life, nurturing and kind.
As Imbolc happens at a crossroads in the year, the goddess of crossroads, Brigid is honored. Brigid is the keeper of the sacred flame and all aspects of the Triple Goddess: energy, fertility, and wisdom.
Brigid's cross symbolically unites the four directions/elements with the otherworld. As the goddess of crossroads, she is able to see where someone has come from as well as where each path in front of them may take them.
Now is the time for divination, a time to determine which path ahead of you is the path you should follow for the year. Craft Brigid's cross and ask for her guidance as you choose your path.
Use the energy from Brigid's sacred flame to ignite your passion for your new path, approach it with steadfast determination. Set your intentions for the year and proclaim them to Brigid and to the Universe!
Blessed Be.
